
Senior Compensation and Benefits Officer

Job Objective/s
The role is responsible for managing the compensation and benefits system of the Corporate Head Office, together with C&B areas/items of the sites which will be centralized in the Corporate Head Office.
All matters and details related to compensation shall be covered by this role such as, but not limited to the following: C&B administration and implementation, policy improvement and formulation, data management and analytics, annual budget including headcount/manpower forecasting and movements, manpower tracking and documentation, report generation, HRIS and other related systems, all matters related to the Retirement and Provident Plan, employee financial rewards and pay-outs, service provider negotiation/networking/relationship management, labor compliance (as related to this role/function), and other special projects or initiatives related to C&B which may be assigned.
Responsibilities
1. Compensation and Benefits
Retirement Plan and Provident Fund
o Monitoring and tracking
o Retirements – documentation to ensure timely pay outs
o Funding and investments – to provide timely and relevant information to Trustees
o Special reports and presentation – including ledgering (i.e. third party) monitoring and reporting to employee stakeholders of the fund (e.g. Provident Fund)
2. Benefits
Conducts regular review of Company benefits/policies, recommending improvements or revisions after analysis and benchmarking, taking into consideration all information such as employee feedback, affordability, alignment with compensation & benefits philosophy of the Company, and market offerings of competitors.
Processes employee benefits in accordance with policies and procedures; processes accruals of financial benefits as may be required – e.g. for Christmas/13th pay, etc.
Processes company benefits under the HR Head's Office – e.g. medical/dental insurance, car plan, etc.
3. Payroll
Oversees end-to-end payroll processing to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant salary disbursement.
Ensures proper computation of salaries, allowances, overtime, incentives, government-mandated contributions (SSS, PhilHealth, HDMF), and deductions.
Coordinates with Finance and external partners to ensure accurate payroll funding, posting, and reconciliation.
Generates payroll-related reports and ensures compliance with statutory requirements, tax reporting, and internal audit policies.
Handles payroll inquiries and concerns of employees, ensuring prompt resolution while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Continuously reviews payroll processes, systems, and controls to recommend and implement improvements.
4. Annual Budgeting and cost-related initiatives – as covered by the HR function/scope
Leads or assists in the preparation of annual budgets related to the HR function such as, but not limited to:
o Manpower planning and forecasting
o Salary & benefits costEnsures timely submission of budget reports and all other reports related to manpower – to HR Head, HR Council, and functional HR heads.
Finalizes annual budget, ensuring accuracy and proper coordination with Finance/Forum for revisions, updates and other related actions which concern the budget approval.
Implements cost-related initiatives related to manpower (e.g. reduction, alignment, transfers, retention, and recruitment) as required by management including all the sites) and acts as custodian of all documents related to manpower movements; monitors movement, reconciles, and secures proper Manpower Circulars that need to be shared with Head Office HR that also ensure proper site coordination for matters related to manpower.
5. Performance Management System and other financial rewards/awards
Leads and coordinates the implementation of the Performance Management System of MThermal subsidiaries, but may not be limited to, the following:
o Monitoring implementation of performance reviews related to performance and job descriptions
o Consolidation of results and submission to HR HeadLeads/assists in other initiatives related to implementing Promotions, including lateral movements or transfer within subsidiaries.
Coordinates with sites on long-term incentives, non-monetary/specialty awards, others related to rewards.
6. Retirement Plan and Provident Fund
Is in-charge of and manages MThermal's Multi-Employer Retirement Plan and Provident Fund and ensures full compliance to applicable laws.
Prepares submissions of Retirement/Provident Plan analysis and implementation of revisions, as directed by the Retirement Committees; timely and accurate implementation of revisions as may be recommended by Retirement Committees/Trustees.
Provides regular updates and reports on plan performance and compliance including, but not limited to: submissions (fund manager updates, submissions of required reports, presentations during meetings, approvals, and required documentation) to all stakeholders (MBC/Retirement Committee members).
7. Performs other tasks/responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time
Position Requirements
Graduate of Accountancy or any Business-related course
Minimum of 5 years' experience in Compensation and Benefits, Payroll, and HRIS within large-headcount organizations (e.g., Power, Utilities, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, and similar industries)
At least 3 years of proven experience in a Supervisory or Leadership role
Strong HR specialization in Compensation and Benefits, Payroll, HR Information/Management Systems, and Reports/Data Analytics
Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of professionalism and strong work ethic
Detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively
Flexible, collaborative, and able to thrive in dynamic or ambiguous environments; a proactive self-starter
