Warehouse Operations Manager at Hexagon Group of Companies. The role is responsible for the overall strategic planning, supervision, and efficient execution of all warehouse operations within the cold storage facility, including receiving, storage, inventory control, and dispatch of temperature-sensitive goods. The Manager will lead and develop the warehouse team, implement best practices for cold chain logistics, uphold safety, quality and food safety standards, and drive continuous improvement to meet operational targets, client expectations, and profitability goals.
Responsibilities- Operations Management & Efficiency: oversee inbound logistics (receiving, put-away), inventory management (storage, order picking), and outbound logistics (staging, loading, dispatch); develop, implement, and monitor SOPs to ensure efficiency, consistency, and compliance; optimize warehouse layout and space utilization within temperature-controlled environments (freezer, chiller, ambient); implement best practices for cold chain management, including temperature monitoring, prevention of cold chain breaks, and rapid handling protocols for perishable goods; monitor and analyze KPIs (receiving/dispatch times, order accuracy, inventory accuracy, labor productivity, space utilization); identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Team Leadership & Development: lead, motivate, and manage the warehouse team, including Warehouse Supervisors, Forklift Operators, and Documentation Staff; conduct performance reviews, provide regular feedback, and develop training programs to enhance skills, especially for cold storage operations and safety; foster a positive, safe, and productive work environment; manage staff scheduling, attendance, and leave requests to ensure adequate staffing for continuous operations.
- Inventory Management & Accuracy: work closely with the Inventory Controller to ensure high inventory accuracy through cycle counting, physical inventories, and discrepancy resolution; oversee proper product handling, storage, rotation (FIFO/FEFO), and damage prevention; implement robust systems for product traceability and recall procedures.
- Quality, Safety, and Compliance: ensure strict adherence to company policies, client specifications, and regulatory requirements related to food safety (HACCP, GMP), occupational health and safety (OSH), and environmental standards; collaborate with QA Officer and OHS Officer to maintain compliance and improve safety and quality; conduct regular safety briefings, implement safety procedures (e.g., forklift, cold stress, ammonia safety where applicable), and ensure proper use of PPE; participate in internal and external audits (FDA, client audits, ISO).
- Equipment and Facility Management: coordinate with General Services and Engineering Supervisor to ensure warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, racking, cold room doors) and refrigeration systems are well-maintained and operational; oversee cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, including temperature-controlled areas; plan for equipment upgrades or replacements as needed.
- Client and Stakeholder Relations: liaise with clients regarding operational requirements, service levels, and issue resolution; collaborate with Sales and Marketing to understand client needs and contribute to service offerings; work with other departments (Finance, HR, Admin IT, Security) to ensure integrated operations.
- Budget Management: assist the General Manager in preparing and managing the warehouse operational budget; monitor and control operational costs, including labor, utilities, and consumables, to achieve financial targets.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution are a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 5 – 7 years of progressive experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience in a management or supervisory role overseeing a significant team in a warehouse setting.
- Extensive experience managing operations within a cold storage, temperature-controlled, or perishable goods environment is highly essential.
- Proven track record of improving operational efficiency, managing budgets, and achieving KPIs.
- Demonstrated expertise in using and optimizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP) and OSH standards.
- Expert understanding of inventory control methods (cycle counting, physical inventory, FIFO/FEFO), accuracy measurement, and discrepancy resolution.
- Knowledge of Lean methodologies (5S & Kaizen) and process optimization techniques applicable to warehousing.
