PI Expert is a sophisticated design tool for power converter design. This tool enables designing with Power Integrations products. Capabilities of this tool include a sophisticated simulation approach, advanced magnetics design and component selection based on the design requirements. As a Team Leader in the Applications Engineering team, you will provide management and technical direction to the Power Integrations' PI Expert design tool's development.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for introducing Power Integrations' new products and features in the PI Expert tool.
  • Capable of defining the project scope based on the product and end user requirements.
  • Communicates and liaises effectively with other functional groups like Marketing and Development Teams located in different geographic locations.
  • Manages priorities well and balances strategic and tactical goals, which makes this a very challenging and high-profile position.
Requirements
  • BS ECE/EE degree or equivalent
  • 8-12 years of experience in a semiconductor company, design or applications engineering group, or a power systems design group in an electronics company
  • Good grasp of fundamentals and design experience in the following areas
  • AC-DC or DC-DC power conversion
  • Operation and characteristics of electronics components like resistors, capacitors, inductors, semiconductor devices, etc.
  • Analog electronics design, switching power supply control methods and control loop theory
  • Familiar with power supply topologies such as Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, Flyback, Resonant Converters, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communications with experience in specification creation, technical report writing and test plans/instructions, with attention to detail in documentation.
  • Familiarity with tools for version control and bug tracking is required.
  • Exposure to programming languages such as MATLAB, C++
Desired Qualifications
  • MS ECE/EE
  • 5 years of experience in management position; leading/supervising a team of engineers
  • Practical design experience in power supply design including selection of components and magnetics.
  • Good grasp of design equations required to synthesize the power supply under consideration.
  • Experience using tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, Excel, Simulation software (PSpice, SIMPLIS, LTspice, etc.)
