Job Description:
Manulife is looking to hire an entry-level Paralegal/Legal assistant to provide legal support for its North American Private Markets Legal Team. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of corporate and/or financial or investment law and governance based on relevant prior work experience. We are seeking a motivated and dynamic professional to primarily provide legal research support for corporate governance and compliance matters related to the management of investment entities in the United States, Canada, and some international jurisdictions, as well as support to the Private Markets Legal Team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Complete and provide supporting "know-your-client" corporate documentation and signing authorities
- Compile corporate formation documents and resolutions, obtain signatures
- Support Private Markets transactions and various investment funds
- Assist with creation, review, and revision of documents supporting investment subsidiaries, including incorporation, organization, fundamental changes, licensing, renewals, and compliance work
- Support subsidiary governance by tracking filing deadlines, updating database records, and administrative tasks
- Assist with general administrative tasks related to Private Markets Legal and governance matters
- Participate in team projects and initiatives
Qualifications:
Education: Successful completion of Juris Doctor (JD) or at least second year in JD program
Experience: Preferably 1-2 years in a corporate law firm or legal department of a financial or investment institution
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (onsite and remote, depending on business needs and external environment)
Minimum Skills:
- Proactive, able to work independently on multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, with excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills
- Confident in collaborating with paralegals, lawyers, administrative staff, and clients
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe, and redlining tools
