Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Controller to lead our corporate accounting and financial reporting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background, deep understanding of SOX compliance, and experience operating within a publicly traded company. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintaining a robust internal control environment, and supporting the company’s SEC reporting requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
SOX Compliance
  • Own and maintain internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) to ensure full compliance with SOX Section 404.
  • Lead the documentation, testing, and remediation of internal controls in coordination with internal and external audit teams.
  • Monitor control effectiveness and provide guidance to process owners on SOX compliance best practices.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing accounting team, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and technical accounting functions.
  • Promote continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems to drive efficiency and scalability.
Audit & External Reporting
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors for the annual audit and quarterly reviews.
  • Support the preparation and review of SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc.).
  • Coordinate responses to audit requests and ensure timely resolution of audit issues.
Process Improvement & Systems
  • Drive automation and system enhancements to streamline accounting processes and ensure data integrity.
  • Partner with IT and Finance teams to maintain and improve ERP systems and reporting tools.
Strategic Support
  • Provide technical accounting guidance for complex transactions, such as revenue recognition, equity compensation, and acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and other departments to support business initiatives and strategic planning.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • CPA required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a public company environment.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX 404 compliance.
  • Experience managing accounting operations in a fast-paced and complex organization.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Workiva, BlackLine, or other close management/reporting tools is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or a combination of public accounting and industry experience.
  • Familiarity with data analytics or process automation tools.
