Overview

Engineering Maintenance Lead at Unilever is responsible for directing and guiding area engineers and maintenance technicians to perform work safely and efficiently. The role ensures technicians have the necessary training and skills to meet appropriate standards and aims to keep equipment uptime aligned with production plans. The role also contributes to maintenance improvements through procedures, technologies, and countermeasures.

Job Title: Engineering Maintenance Lead
Location: Philippines

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and guide maintenance technicians and engineers to complete assignments on time and to required quality.
  • Assess skills gaps and implement timely training interventions.
  • Provide equipment and training to ensure safe working practices and environmental standards are upheld.
  • Eliminate loss using PM, FI, and QC methodologies and ensure equipment availability to meet production plans.
  • Validate operator standards for autonomous maintenance and coordinate with First Line Managers as needed.
  • Review accuracy and timeliness of entries in DMS and take corrective action as required.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in preventive and predictive maintenance; incorporate into ongoing plans.
  • Implement preventative, predictive maintenance and design/automation improvements to maintain basic conditions and increase MTBF.
  • Share best practices with other lines and extend improvements across the operation.

Qualifications

Professional Skills And Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical) or equivalent professional qualifications
  • Project Delivery
  • Maintenance principles and best practices; strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to visualize ideal production systems and establish operating standards
  • Strong data-driven decision-making and the ability to present findings clearly
  • Contract management and conflict resolution
  • Budget management

Essential Experience

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in FMCG or related industry
  • 2+ years in a management capacity
  • Significant hands-on maintenance experience
  • Professional Engineer status or member of a professional institution is preferred

Preferred Experience

  • FMCG experience and/or Unilever exposure
  • Manufacturing & Technical background
  • Experience in automation and controls (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Omron)
  • Experience with AM, PM, Quality and FI tools and processes
  • Proficient in applying problem-solving tools (5W1H, 4M, 5WHY, etc.)
