Minimum of 3 to 5+ years of relevant accounting and financial analysis experience in the construction, real estate, or property management industry. At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a managerial role within construction finance. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, best practices, and procedures in the construction, real estate, logistics, and property management industries. Proven experience in documenting accounting procedures and establishing internal controls within a construction environment. Expertise in cost and expense allocation across multiple construction projects and business units. Strong understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structures specific to the construction industry. Proficiency in financial consolidations, inter‑company eliminations, and segment reporting within construction projects. Ability to interpret and apply accounting rules and regulations relevant to the construction industry. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present financial reports and data to various management stakeholders. Strong time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills in a fast‑paced construction environment. Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to establish effective relationships and mentor, coach, and motivate finance professionals. Demonstrated integrity, ethics, and trust in managing financial operations within the construction industry. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail. Experience in process improvement and implementation of financial reporting systems. Advanced proficiency in financial reporting, construction management, and property management software (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks). Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Your Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for individual construction projects, standalone entities, and consolidated business units. Budgeting and Monitoring: Lead the annual budgeting process in coordination with various departments to ensure alignment with strategic goals. Monitor budget performance throughout the fiscal year by tracking actual expenditures against the approved budget and provide actionable recommendations for continuous improvement. Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial statements. Conduct regular reviews and audits to identify and address control weaknesses. Coordination with External Auditors: Manage relationships with external auditors to ensure an efficient and effective audit process. Prepare and review audit schedules, financial statements, and note disclosures for all wholly owned entities and partnerships. Coordinate with the audit team to prepare audited financial statements for each construction entity. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance the financial reporting process and framework through automation, technology, and best practices. Lead initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of errors. Compliance: Ensure all financial reporting complies with GAAP, ASPE, and other applicable standards. Stay current with changes in accounting standards and implement necessary updates to reporting practices. Oversee the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual disclosures to ensure compliance with construction industry regulations. Manage the creation and distribution of weekly and monthly financial reports customized to meet the specific needs of the construction business. Collaboration: Work closely with the CFO, Controllers, Project Managers, Financial Analysts, and other senior leaders to support the company's financial objectives. Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to develop detailed internal financial reports, including variance analysis for construction projects. Manage the timely distribution of construction reports and internal financial analyses, and assist Controllers and Senior Accountants with financial reporting requirements. Assist the Corporate Controller and Accounting Manager in key accounting tasks associated with construction projects. Management of Reporting Team: Lead and mentor a team of financial reporting professionals and financial analysts. Provide guidance on technical accounting issues, performance management, and professional development. Cash Flow and Debt Management: Oversee debt financing activities, including securing loans, negotiating terms, and managing repayment schedules. Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to predict future cash needs based on historical data and business plans. Manage working capital by optimizing receivables, payables, and inventory. Provide ad hoc financial reports, exhibits, and data analyses as requested by the construction operations team. Business Needs: Evaluate business needs, prioritize financial projects, and ensure the timely completion of new reporting requirements. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including project‑specific income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Complex Transactions: Document and analyze real estate and construction‑related business transactions to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. Perform quality assurance reviews on recurring financial reports to ensure precision and timely delivery. Compile financial reports by collecting, formatting, analyzing, and interpreting construction‑specific financial data. Financial Analysis: Review and interpret financial data recorded in the general ledger, focusing on construction project accounting. Investigate and report financial inconsistencies or irregularities to senior management, and provide recommendations for improvements. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports, particularly those related to construction activities. IT Implementation: Play a key role in the implementation of new accounting software aimed at improving departmental efficiency and effectiveness within construction finance. Investigate and report financial inconsistencies or irregularities related to construction projects to senior management. Conduct research and analysis on balance sheet items and income/expense fluctuations specific to construction projects. Lead initiatives to update and enhance the financial reporting framework within the general ledger, focusing on construction‑specific requirements. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting by collaborating with other functional areas within the construction company. Partner with senior management, investors, and leadership in financial analysis, planning, and reporting related to construction projects. Report findings to management, offer recommendations for improvements, and implement approved strategies to enhance financial reporting practices. Coordinate with the audit team to prepare audited financial statements for each construction entity. Assist in the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual disclosures, ensuring compliance with construction industry regulations.
