Overview We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Bookkeeper to manage the daily accounting flow between inbox, payment, and bookkeeping. This role combines bill pay execution, vendor management, and full-cycle bookkeeping tasks across multiple clients. You’ll ensure smooth operations and accurate financial records while supporting system improvements and automation. You’ll work closely with: The Bookkeeper, who manages month-end closes The Owner, who handles client calls and strategy This position offers the opportunity to grow into roles such as Senior Bookkeeper, AP Lead, or Automation Coordinator as automation systems mature. Job Highlights Monthly Rate: Php 67,000Number of Paid Hours Per Week: 40 hoursSchedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Time)Work Arrangement: Work from homeContract: Independent Contractor Side Note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an “Independent Contractor,” the selected candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process. Responsibilities Manage client AP inboxes (bills, payment requests, vendor communications). Execute bill payments through Float Financial, Plooto, or direct banking systems. Accurately code expenses to the correct GL accounts with proper GST/HST/PST handling. Perform bookkeeping tasks: data entry, reconciliations, expense categorization, and month-end prep. Collaborate with the bookkeeping team to ensure accurate and timely closes. Maintain clean documentation and help design more automated workflows as systems mature. Communicate proactively with clients and vendors via email and internal tools (no client meetings required). Requirements Qualifications 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping and/or accounts payable. Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Float Financial. Solid understanding of Canadian accounting practices, including GST/HST/PST and cross-border expenses. Proven accuracy in transaction coding and reconciliation. Excellent written communication; organized, dependable, and self-directed. Tech-forward mindset with interest in automation and AI tools. Preferred Experience Experience in a virtual accounting firm or outsourced finance environment. Familiarity with Hubdoc, Dext, ApprovalMax, Plooto, or Bill.com. Exposure to U.S. bookkeeping or multi-entity setups. Ability to document processes and suggest system improvements.
