About this role

We are seeking an experienced and capable Purchasing Officer to manage the day-to-day procurement process across raw materials, packaging, and other key inputs. This role ensures continuity of supply and supports business growth by aligning purchasing activities with production schedules, forecasts, and goals. The successful candidate will work independently, reporting to the Senior Procurement Analyst and Senior Demand Planner, with reporting to the CFO. This is a mid-level role requiring maturity, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Raise and process a high volume of purchase orders in line with approved forecasts and requirements.
  • Monitor supplier lead times, shipping schedules, and delivery performance to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with suppliers and freight forwarders, including confirmations, updates, and issue resolution.
  • Support supplier evaluations on cost, quality, and reliability, escalating risks where necessary.
  • Partner with the Senior Demand Planner to align procurement with sales forecasts and inventory targets.
  • Assist the Senior Procurement Analyst with cost-tracking, purchase price variance reporting, and supplier KPI reviews.
  • Liaise with Warehouse, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve discrepancies, product damage, or quality concerns.
  • Maintain accurate procurement and supplier data within NetSuite ERP, ensuring compliance and data integrity.
  • Contribute to process improvements across procurement, inventory management, and supplier communications.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Minimum 8-10+ years' experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain, ideally within food, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to handle large datasets and link Excel reports with NetSuite ERP data.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience aligning purchasing decisions to demand planning and production schedules.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite experience highly regarded).
  • Ability to work independently and manage end-to-end procurement processes.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capability with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Proven track record of building effective supplier relationships and managing performance.
