The Back Room is hiring an Accountant for one of our US-based clients, a growing accounting firm. This role is ideal for detail-oriented accountants with 2+ years of US bookkeeping/accounting experience or 3–5+ years local accounting experience who want to expand their career with offshore accounting services.

What You’ll Do

Daily

  • Follow company processes and protocols.
  • Track deadlines in Asana.
  • Maintain personal email inbox and respond within 24 hours.
  • Send daily plans and end-of-day summaries.
  • Track time in QuickBooks Time.
  • Complete bookkeeping tasks in QuickBooks.
  • Complete accounting support tasks assigned by Senior Accountants and/or Team Leader.

Weekly

  • Bookkeeping for monthly reporting clients.
  • Follow up with clients who have not responded on project inquiries.
  • Attach documentation to payroll and expense transactions.
  • Organize other work papers.

Monthly

  • Bookkeeping for quarterly clients.
  • Review own work for accuracy.
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts.
  • Review all reports related to monthly closing process.
  • Collaborate with Senior Staff Accountants on report reviews.
  • Download and organize payroll tax returns for relevant clients.
  • Submit and pay sales tax in multiple states.

Annually

  • Participate in 1099 process – collect W9s, ensure vendor information is correct, generate Expenses by Vendor reports for clients engaging in 1099.
What we\'re looking for
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • End-to-end accounting experience including financial statement preparation, accounts payable, payroll entries, accrual accounting.
  • Ability to handle multiple client accounts.
  • 2+ years bookkeeping and/or accounting experience.
  • Expertise in QuickBooks Online and related software.
  • 1+ years Bill.com experience or similar bill-pay applications
  • Ability to clearly and effectively present information and respond to questions in English (telephone and in writing).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Basic Excel capabilities, QuickBooks Online, ability to learn new software applications.
