Overview Project: Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) Rice Project Location: Pampanga, Philippines Reporting to: Project Coordinator Contract type: 1 year contract with possibility of extension Background The JCM AWD Rice Project aims to reduce methane emissions from rice cultivation by promoting water-saving irrigation practices in collaboration with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Irrigators’ Associations (IAs), and local farmers. The Project Officer will be responsible for field-level implementation, including farmer training, coordination with IAs, and monitoring activities. Scope of work 1. Coordination with NIA IMO and IAs Coordinate with NIA Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs) and support the enrollment of new Irrigators’ Associations (IAs) into the project. 2. Farmer Training and Support Assist on the conduct farmer training on AWD practices tailored to local conditions. Provide technical support and follow-up to farmers for proper adoption of AWD. 3. Monitoring and Data Collection Supervise monitoring activities and field monitoring staff to ensure data quality. Collect, verify, and report water-level, irrigation, and field data as per JCM requirements. Ensures AWD protocols are adapted by the farmer stakeholders. Reports inconsistencies to the project coordinator in relation to the field-level implementation. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field (preferred but not strictly required). At least 2–3 years of experience in agriculture extension, farmer training, or project implementation. Experience coordinating with farmer groups, cooperatives, or IAs. Good communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders. Basic knowledge of rice cultivation and irrigation practices. Residence nearby project area in Pampanga.
