Educational Support Specialist (Payroll Onboarding Specialist)

Job Description:

Tutor Me Education is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience running payroll using ADP, with strong proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel. The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for our employees in the United States and California. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and a thorough understanding of payroll laws and regulations in California and across the US.

Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for employees in multiple locations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Use ADP payroll software to manage payroll data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, overtime, and deductions.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring payroll-related data is current.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, including tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and wage garnishments.
  • Prepare and file payroll taxes and related filings, including federal, state, and local tax payments, and year-end forms.
  • Generate payroll reports, track hours, overtime, PTO, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with audits and maintain documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Support employees with payroll questions, deductions, and issues.
  • Monitor changes in payroll regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance departments for payroll and benefits integration.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of payroll experience, with expertise in ADP.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processing in the US and California, including federal and state tax regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills for employee inquiries and issue resolution.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Team player with collaborative problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger accounting.
  • Payroll certification (CPP) or related credentials.
