Senior Interior Designer

Overview

Performs professional and technical work involving the efficient design of interiors to encourage maximum space utilization.

• This individual is responsible for planning, designing, and drafting detailed specifications for creating a pleasing and functional interior environment.
• Work may also be performed in collaboration with an architect or other designer.
• Duties include consulting with individuals responsible for the space to be designed regarding decisions on space planning, color and fabric selections for wall, floor, and window coverings, paint colors, and furniture, shelving, and cabinet selections.
• Proposals for design work are prepared with regard to budgetary restrictions and customer or user expectations.
• Work is performed with considerable independence.

1. Estimate material requirements and costs, and present design to client for approval.
2. Confer with client to determine factors affecting planning interior environments, such as budget, architectural preferences, and purpose and function.
3. Advise client on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, and color coordination.
4. Select or design, and purchase furnishings, art works, and accessories.
5. Formulate environmental plan to be practical, esthetic, and conducive to intended purposes, such as raising productivity or selling merchandise.
6. Subcontract fabrication, installation, and arrangement of carpeting, fixtures, accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, art work, furniture, and related items.
7. Plan, design and supervise major renovations, remodeling and additions.
8. Prepare construction documents, write specifications, review bid documents.
9. Meet with department heads or representatives to determine interior architecture needs including determining space utilization and fabric and color selections of wall, floor, and window coverings.
10. Maintains illustrative materials on available products and materials for selection by the user.
11. Meets with vendors, suppliers and contractors. Review interior needs with sales representatives and vendors to determine who can provide the best service.
12. Procures furnishings, materials and equipment.
13. Prepares proposals for design work including sketches and costs estimates for labor, equipment, and materials.
14. Prepares final designs and specifications within budgetary restrictions.
15. Helps estimators with complex interior projects.
16. Performs necessary drafting work for projects.
17. Performs related work as required.

• Graduate of Fine Arts or any Architectural Design Course from any reputable university with good scholastic record.
• At least 3-5 years CAD working experience
• Considerable knowledge of the practices and principals of interior design.
• Considerable knowledge of the preparation of proposals and specifications for interior design work
• Computer proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, illustrator, 2D and 3D, SKETCH-UP, Photoshop Background is an advantage.
• Excellent creativity in designing and ability to execute the designs to suit the clients’ needs
• Skill in designing interior alterations, renovations, and new layouts.
• Articulate both in verbal and written communication; can handle presentation to clients
• Good in CAD detailing works and material breakdown
• Can work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
