Overview
Marubeni-Itochu Steel Pte Ltd – Manila Branch is a trading company based in Makati with head office in Singapore and ultimately, Japan. We specialize in steel. Our company needs a staff to assist in day-to-day sales administration duties, this role will report to Manager and General Manager of Business Department. The chosen candidate can expect upon regularization, 1. Life & Health Benefits 2. Bonuses other than 13th month 3. Many leave credits + convertible and many more.
Sales Job Requirements (Steel Industry)- Education:
- Graduate of Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Metallurgy is an advantage.
- Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in industrial/B2B sales, preferably in steel , construction materials , or manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with steel grades , products (e.g., coils, sheets, bars, plates), and industry applications is highly preferred.
- Experience in a JAPANESE company is a plus.
- Product Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of different steel types (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel, structural steel).
- Awareness of industry standards (e.g., ASTM, JIS, EN).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings or spec sheets is a plus.
- Sales & Communication Skills:
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills for dealing with industrial clients, project managers, and procurement teams.
- Ability to explain technical details and product benefits clearly to non-technical buyers.
- Computer & Reporting Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Experience using SAP system is a plus.
- Capable of preparing quotations , sales reports , and market analysis .

- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Good time management and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical and Practical Requirements:
- Willingness to visit construction sites , warehouses , or client factories .
- Availability:
- Flexibility for fieldwork , occasional overtime, or client meetings outside office hours.
- Language:
- Ability to speak Chinese is an advantage. Fluent in English.
- Customer Engagement & Support
- Assist clients with product inquiries, pricing, availability, and technical specifications.
- Provide excellent after-sales service and build long-term customer relationships.
- Handle walk-in, phone, and email inquiries from existing and potential clients.
- Sales Operations
- Prepare and follow up on sales quotations , proposals , and purchase orders .
- Coordinate with internal departments (e.g. logistics, warehouse, finance) to ensure timely delivery and billing.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, transactions, and sales activities in SAP system or Excel file.
- Product Knowledge & Advice
- Understand the range of steel products (e.g. flat steel, long steel, coils, bars, sheets, beams).
- Recommend suitable materials and grades based on customer needs and project requirements.
- Stay updated on steel specifications, certifications, and industry applications.
- Market Research & Lead Generation
- Identify and pursue new sales leads from construction, manufacturing, shipbuilding, and other relevant sectors.
- Research competitors and market trends to assist in pricing and positioning.
- Participate in industry events, trade shows, or client site visits if required.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly sales reports.
- Monitor order status, delivery schedules, and payment collections.
- Ensure all documents (delivery orders, invoices, contracts) are filed and processed accurately.
- Team Coordination
- Collaborate with sales team and managers to achieve team targets.
- Support senior sales executives with administrative or field tasks.
- Assist in stock planning based on customer demand forecasts.
