Shift Supervisor

Position: Shift Supervisor (Diesel) Nature of Business/Industry: Power Generation; Off-grid Place of Assignment: Mobo, Masbate Job Purpose: The position is responsible for overseeing the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of the Diesel Power Plant during assigned shifts to ensure reliable power generation and delivery in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Shift Operations Management Supervise and control the day-to-day operation of generating units, auxiliaries, and related systems during assigned shifts. Ensure power generation follows dispatch schedules and demands from the load grid (MASELCO/NPC). Monitor equipment parameters and performance to detect abnormal conditions. Take corrective action or coordinate with maintenance when necessary. Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and operating limits. Safety and Environmental Compliance Ensure implementation of safety protocols and environmental protection measures during operations. Conduct pre-shift toolbox meetings and safety briefings. Enforce proper use of PPE and adherence to safe work practices. Identify and report hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions. Support ESH Department in implementing emergency drills and compliance audits. Team Supervision and Coordination Lead and supervise operators during assigned shifts. Assign daily tasks and ensure workload distribution aligns with operational priorities. Provide hands‑on guidance and performance feedback to shift personnel. Conduct shift turnover briefings and ensure smooth communication between incoming and outgoing teams. Coordinate with Maintenance and Planning for scheduled shutdowns, testing, and repairs. Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting Ensure accurate and timely recording of all operational data in the logbook and control room system. Monitor and record fuel consumption, power output, and lube oil usage. Prepare and submit daily and monthly operational reports, incident reports, and fuel inventory. Maintain accurate records for regulatory and audit purposes. Analyze trends to detect potential operational issues. Equipment and System Performance Improvement Monitor efficiency and performance of generating units and auxiliaries. Recommend adjustments and improvements to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce downtime. Lead in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for equipment failures. Support maintenance performance implementation of programs and improvement initiatives. Propose innovations for operational reliability and cost reduction. Compliance and Audit Support Ensure all shift activities comply with company policies, SOPs, and government regulations (DOE, DENR, ERC, etc.). Assist in internal and external operational audits. Support documentation evidence preparation during inspections. Implement corrective actions for audit findings. Other Duties Performs other related functions or special assignments as required by the Operations Superintendent and Plant Manager to support plant operations, safety, and reliability goals. What We Need: Must be a licensed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer. Preferably with at least 3–5 years of experience in power plant operations including at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or any related field. Proficient in diesel power plant operations and basic troubleshooting of generating units and auxiliaries. Knowledgeable in safety, environmental, and operational compliance procedures. Skilled in supervising and coordinating plant personnel during shifts. Capable of preparing accurate operational reports and maintaining plant documentation. Effective communication and decision‑making skills under normal and emergency conditions.
