Universal Robina Corporation is looking for a Team Lead, Product Development (Bakery)

This role will work on materials and/or processes to create pipelines of consumer centric products and platform projects. He or she will work on technologies to find solution to emerging trends and support sustainability projects.

The Product Development for Bakery will focus on building a bank of textures and/or flavor solutions by using his/her knowledge and expertise on bakery. He or she uses his or her expertise in dough mixing, baking, filling and coating, and other related unit operations. He or she is also tasked to support the commercialization of first-of-a-type technology in countries.

What are the Roles and Responsibilities?

• Establishing a Strong Scientific Platform: Lead the development of a robust scientific platform for creating new products by integrating consumer immersions, Kano analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), Systat, and other relevant methodologies.
• Hypothesis Generation and Trial Planning: Formulate hypotheses based on consumer insights and develop trial plans for testing these hypotheses.
• Conducting Trials: Oversee laboratory and/or plant trials to produce prototype samples aligning with the target product design or application.
• Validation of Hypotheses: Validate hypotheses through various techniques including physical, chemical, and sensorial tests. Utilize appropriate testing panels such as internal panels for Quantitative Descriptive Analysis (QDA) or consumer panels, employing qualitative and quantitative testing approaches as needed.
• Ingredient Selection and Approval: Identify and approve new ingredients essential for supporting innovation projects. Shortlist raw materials, flavors, or flavor keys for innovation projects, taking ownership of these critical choices.
• Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with Commercialization teams, Suppliers, Regional R&D, and Marketing to capitalize on consumer-focused product opportunities.
• Project Management and Documentation: Generate and maintain comprehensive project records and monthly status summaries to ensure clarity and transparency in project progression.
• Technology Transfer and Documentation: Assume primary responsibility for technology transfer and associated documentation processes, ensuring seamless integration of innovations into production.
• Training and Knowledge Sharing: Conduct training sessions and disseminate knowledge on innovations and new technologies within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

What are the Qualifications?

• Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in BS Food Technology, BS Food Science, BS Chemistry, BS Chemical Engineering, or other related courses.
• Experience in beverage manufacturing industry
• At least 5 years' experience, preferably in the FMCG industry with technical depth and knowledge in processes and ingredients involved in their respective category.
• Experience in handling bakery products.
• Must have good knowledge on food processes (Food Science, Process Engineering) and has good attention to detail.
• Possesses good analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills with proficient computer and reporting skills.
• Must be curious, creative and always thinking of better ways to innovate products.
