Accounting Manager

In this pivotal role, you'll ensure the integrity of our financial systems—from managing tutor payroll and preparing accurate financial reports to driving compliance and supporting investor relations. You'll play a key part in audits, financial planning, and forecasting, while continuously improving our accounting processes for greater efficiency and transparency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Operations & Accounting

• Support day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payment processing, and collections

• Manage monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger maintenance

• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and internal records in accordance with accounting standards

Payroll Precision

• Process tutor payroll accurately based on teaching hours and applicable penalties

• Ensure timely disbursement and documentation for local and international tutors

Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare and review internal financial reports, forecasts, and revenue/cost analyses

• Identify trends and variances to support decision-making and improve financial performance

• Consolidate and present financial data in monthly management reporting packs

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Support the preparation and tracking of annual budgets and rolling forecasts

• Monitor actual performance against budget and flag variances proactively

Compliance & Audit Support

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, tax requirements, and relevant financial regulations

• Manage external audit activities, including preparation of audit schedules and statutory reports

• Support implementation and monitoring of finance policies and procedures

Investor Relations Support

• Prepare and deliver financial documents, reports, and responses to investor data requests

• Assist in maintaining investor-ready financial records, forecasts, and audit files

• Collaborate with leadership to support fundraising activities and due diligence processes

Team & Cross-functional Collaboration

• Partner with other teams to ensure finance workflows support broader business needs

• Take on special projects or additional technical and operational tasks as assigned by supervisors or stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

• A degree in Accountancy or a related field

• A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.

• 5-10 years of experience in financial reporting, tax reporting, audit support, and financial planning

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets and modern accounting systems (e.g., Xero)

• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, documentation, and compliance

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw insights

• Experience in a startup, high-growth environment, and/or outsourcing industry is an advantage.

WORK SET-UP AND REQUIREMENTS

• Schedule: May require flexible hours but with focus on mid-shift (start of shift at 12NN or 1PM)

• Workdays: Five-day workweek with two rest days.

• Location: Fully remote

• Desktop/laptop with Intel i5 (10th gen) or higher 8GB RAM or higher

• Minimum 25 Mbps internet speed with backup connection

• Backup power supply for at least 8 hours
