Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Technical Services Assistant to join our growing technical services team. This role is crucial for supporting our geotechnical and soil services by managing data, organizing technical documents, and preparing reports. You will work closely with our project managers and engineers to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all project-related documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical aptitude who is eager to learn and grow within a professional engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

Your primary responsibilities will focus on the meticulous handling and organization of technical data and documents. This is a black-and-white, process-driven role where precision and consistency are paramount.

  1. Data Management & Entry:

  2. Data Entry: Accurately input geotechnical and soils data into our specialized software, gINT (training will be provided). This includes, but is not limited to, soil classifications, lab results, and field observations.

  3. Data Download: Regularly download technical data, such as public records, topographic maps, and utility information, from various online databases and websites.

  4. Data Organization: Maintain a structured and well-organized digital filing system for all project data and reports.

  5. Document Assembly & Preparation:

  6. Report Assembly: Assemble comprehensive report appendices, ensuring all components, such as boring logs, laboratory test results, and site photographs, are correctly ordered and formatted.

  7. Layouts: Utilize Bluebeam to create and modify location plans and boring layouts, ensuring they are clear, accurate, and aligned with project specifications.

  8. Document Formatting: Ensure all final reports and documents are professionally formatted and ready for client delivery.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

This role requires a candidate who is highly systematic, learns new software quickly, and has a keen eye for detail. The following skills are essential for success:

  1. Software Proficiency:

  2. Bluebeam: Demonstrated experience with Bluebeam or similar PDF editing/markup software (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Pro). Must be proficient in creating, editing, and annotating technical drawings and documents.

  3. Microsoft Office Suite: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is a must.

  4. Technical Aptitude: A basic understanding of technical processes or a background in a technical field (e.g., engineering, architecture, or environmental science) is highly desirable. The ability to understand and interpret technical data is crucial.

  5. Attention to Detail: This is the most critical skill for this role. You must have an unwavering commitment to accuracy, ensuring all data entry and document assembly tasks are completed without error.

  6. Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management skills are necessary to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  7. Adaptability: The ability to learn and master new specialized software quickly and efficiently.
