Job Description

The NICU Staff Nurse provides specialized nursing care to critically ill or premature newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The role ensures high-quality patient care, supports parents, and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to promote neonatal health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, and document vital signs, growth, and clinical status of neonates.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and other prescribed treatments.
  • Operate and monitor neonatal medical equipment (incubators, ventilators, monitors).
  • Provide respiratory support and assist in life-saving procedures as needed.
  • Support feeding, nutritional management, and developmental care of neonates.
  • Educate and counsel parents regarding neonatal care and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain strict infection control, hygiene, and safety protocols in the NICU.
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Prepare reports, maintain accurate records, and document nursing interventions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduate
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with active PRC license
  • Preferably with experience in NICU, Pediatrics, or ICU
  • Required/advantage certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – optional but advantageous
  • Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and parent support skills
  • Able to work under pressure and in high-acuity environments
  • Willing to work shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
