Job Description

The General Ward Senior Nurse oversees nursing care in the general ward, ensuring high-quality patient care, proper staffing, and adherence to hospital protocols. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating patient care, and maintaining documentation and ward operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guide junior nurses, nursing aides, and other ward staff.
  • Oversee patient admissions, assessments, and daily care plans.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control, hospital policies, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and other departments for patient care.
  • Monitor patient progress, administer medications, and perform nursing procedures.
  • Prepare and review nursing documentation and reports.
  • Ensure proper staffing, scheduling, and workload distribution in the ward.
  • Mentor, train, and support continuous professional development of ward staff.
  • Handle emergencies and respond promptly to patient needs.
  • Maintain ward cleanliness, equipment, and supplies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduate.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with active PRC license.
  • At least 3–5 years' experience in ward or hospital nursing; experience in supervisory roles preferred.
  • Required certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – optional but preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledgeable in patient care standards, nursing procedures, and infection control.
  • Able to work on shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Professional, responsible, and patient-focused.
