M365 Application Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced M365 Application Engineer to design, configure, and support modern Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online solutions. This role requires someone who not only has strong technical capability, but also demonstrates patience, resourcefulness, analytical thinking, and excellent client-facing communication — the same qualities we identified in our ideal candidate during our recent interview process.

You'll work across SharePoint Online, Power Automate, Teams, OneDrive, and Microsoft Graph integrations, helping the business improve collaboration, automate processes, and resolve complex M365 issues with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Configuration

• Configure and enhance SharePoint Online sites, lists, libraries, pages, and content structures using out-of-the-box features and light customisation.
• Build and maintain Power Automate workflows to support approvals, notifications, integrations, and process automation.
• Support basic Power Apps solutions including forms, screens, and data connections.
• Translate business requirements into clean, easy-to-follow process diagrams and flowcharts using non-technical language.
• Integrate SharePoint with Teams, OneDrive, Outlook, and other M365 services.

M365 Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide L2/L3 application support for SharePoint Online, Teams, Power Automate, OneDrive, and related M365 workloads.
• Diagnose and resolve complex user access issues, including scenarios involving legacy accounts, broken permissions, or user profile inconsistencies
• Manage permissions, groups, user access reviews, and hidden lists within SharePoint Online.
• Use PowerShell for basic reporting, permission cleanup, and administration tasks.
• Handle small data-related tasks such as list updates, Excel imports, and content migrations.

Automation & Integration

• Support workflows that integrate M365 services with external systems (e.g., ticketing platforms).
• Assist with Graph API–based automations, including understanding permissions, application registrations, and least-privilege configurations.
• Research and test solutions when Microsoft releases platform changes that may impact automations.

Governance, Security & Compliance

• Contribute to SharePoint and M365 governance policies such as site provisioning, permissions, retention, and naming conventions.
• Follow least-privilege principles when assigning access or configuring app permissions — especially for API integrations.
• Maintain documentation to ensure compliance and operational transparency.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

• Gather and validate requirements from non-technical stakeholders by asking structured questions and simplifying technical concepts.
• Provide clear communication using non-technical terms to ensure users understand impacts and processes.
• Manage expectations and guide customers through solution choices and limitations.
• Deliver user training, demos, and documentation to support adoption.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience supporting or developing SharePoint Online solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Power Automate (basic–intermediate workflows) and familiarity with Power Apps.
• Good understanding of Teams, OneDrive, and core M365 services.
• Basic experience with Graph API, app registrations, permissions, or willingness to learn quickly.
• Strong troubleshooting skills — especially in diagnosing user access issues, permission conflicts, or identity mismatches.
• Excellent communication skills, especially when explaining solutions to non-technical users.
• A patient, resourceful, and research-driven approach to solving complex problems.
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks, and support multiple stakeholders simultaneously.

Desirable Skills

• Microsoft certifications (MS-700, PL-100, PL-200, PL-400, SC-300).
• Experience working with ticketing systems.
• Basic experience with Power BI or data handling/visualisation.
• Exposure to Azure AD, Conditional Access, and M365 governance frameworks.
• Availability: Candidates who can start immediately are highly preferred.
