Medical Records Coordinator – Job Description

Overview: A Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and securing patient health records in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies. They ensure that records are accurate, up to date, and easily accessible to authorized personnel while protecting patient confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, and maintain patient medical records in paper and/or electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation of patient files.
  • Retrieve and release medical records to physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and authorized third parties, following HIPAA guidelines.
  • Process requests for information and ensure timely delivery of medical documentation.
  • Monitor record-keeping practices to ensure compliance with state, federal, and organizational regulations.
  • Work with healthcare staff to correct discrepancies or missing information in patient charts.
  • Oversee storage, archiving, and secure destruction of medical records according to retention policies.
  • Train and support staff in proper medical records handling procedures.
  • Generate reports and audits as required by management or regulatory bodies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of Bachelor's Degree ( Any Allied Sciences ) not for Nursing & doctors
  • 1 - 2 years bedside direct adult patient care experience
  • or 1 year Bpo healthcare account experience
  • Good Communications Skills
  • No pending application to Sagility or HGS
