Reports to: General Manager

Team: Supervises and performance manage a team of Sales Coordinators, Sales Analyst and Sales & Marketing admin.

Summary of Role:

Responsible for the daily and weekly planning of all sales and distribution activities, including related marketing initiatives. This includes optimizing deliveries, managing stock levels across multiple stores through the team of Sales Coordinators, Sales Analyst and Sales & Marketing Admin. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong grasp of data analysis to identify gaps, opportunities and reduce waste, and who can also provide hands-on coaching and leadership to their team. This role is about achieving realistic sales targets and efficient, sustainable operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales and Market Growth:

  • Lead the team to achieve company sales targets by ensuring on time deliveries and stock availability based on historical sales and returns.

  • Drive sales growth by managing the number, quality, and location of product display in stores.
  • Expand sales opportunities by ensuring existing and new items are offered to all relevant accounts and successfully listed.
  • Lead the team to open new accounts and expand our market reach.
  • Review and recommend marketing programs to support the achievement of sales targets.
  • Know and manage a positive and effective network with buyers and customers.
  • Team Leadership and Management:

  • Provide clear direction and set priorities for the Sales team

  • Coach and develop a positive team culture among the sales team alongside other teams
  • Actively problem-solve and provide guidance to the team, escalating issues only when necessary.
  • Motivate and manage team efficiency and discipline.
  • Conduct monthly performance evaluations for direct reports and link them to incentives.
  • Manage merchandiser performance and compensation, ensuring they are actively serving our products and determining appropriate pay rates and sales incentive schemes.
  • Inventory and Management:

  • Oversee in-store stock levels, managing the team to track store inventory and shelf life to maximize deliveries and minimize returns and losses.

  • Ensure deliveries are confirmed with stores to avoid wasted trips.
  • Work with the Accounts-in-Charge to ensure no deliveries are made to accounts with overdue or unresolved payments.
  • Approve delivery schedules and purchase orders, including accurate quantities
  • Ensure accurate approval of delivery schedules and to optimize delivery routes.
  • Implement price increases when necessary and conduct audit on pricing accuracy
  • Resolve issues related to product facings, repacked boxes, shelf tags and store department heads, and any other issues impacting sales performance.
  • Systems and Analytics:

  • Utilize sales data, previous delivery dates, and other metrics to prioritize store visits, deliveries, and route accuracy and efficiency

  • Support and recommend improvements in sales and operations systems.
  • Implement a process to ensure all invoices and delivery receipts are correct (SKUs, quantities, prices) before issuing
  • Work with the Sales team to optimize processes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Increase in overall sales volume.
  • Reduction in goods that are expired or nearing expiry.
  • Support for AR collection through effective management of the sales team.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a sales management or similar leadership role, preferably within the FMCG or distribution industry.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of sales management experience is required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and logistics information.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A solid understanding of supply chain, inventory management, and B2B customer relations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and results-oriented mindset.
  • Honest, Quick-thinker and problem-solver.
