Category Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
- Define the overall strategy and vision for the identified categories, ensuring alignment with company objectives and brand positioning
- Build and manage the full category roadmap, ensuring the right product mix, feature differentiation, and competitive advantage across segments
- Drive market share growth by identifying and activating opportunities in existing and emerging consumer segments
Product Lifecycle Management
- Own the category's full product lifecycle, starting from ideation and product definition to end-of-life phase-out to ensure timely launches and rationalized lineups
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of category performance, competitive landscape, industry trends, and evolving consumer needs
- Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Procurement to ensure product specifications, quality standards, and cost structures deliver optimal consumer and business value
Commercial & Financial Ownership
- Lead category pricing strategy, including competitive benchmarking, consumer price index monitoring, and profitability analysis
- Manage product cost structures to safeguard margins while staying competitive in the market
- Partner with Sales, Trade Marketing, Brand and Finance to develop forecasts, demand plans, and promotional calendars tied to sell-in and sell-out targets
Innovation & Market Relevance
- Translate consumer insights into innovation priorities that strengthen the category's competitive positioning
- Guide the launch of new products with compelling propositions that highlight differentiated features and benefits
- Work with Brand and Marketing teams to ensure product stories are compelling, relevant, and aligned with brand equity goals
Cross-Functional Alignment & Execution
- Lead category alignment sessions with R&D, Manufacturing, Sales, Trade Marketing, Brand, and CX to ensure cohesive execution of initiatives
- Serve as the central decision-maker for category trade-offs, balancing consumer relevance, operational feasibility, and business impact
Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Monitor and analyse category performance, including market share, volume, ASP (average selling price), and profitability
- Recommend interventions to address underperformance or capitalize on growth opportunities
- Provide regular business updates to leadership, translating category metrics into strategic actions
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
MBA or advanced degree preferred
At least 5 years of solid category, product, or brand management experience—preferably in FMCG, appliances, consumer, or adjacent tech-driven industries.
Proven track record in full product lifecycle ownership, from roadmap planning to market launch and end-of-life management.
Demonstrated P&L accountability with strong results in sales, market share growth, and profitability.
Strong exposure to cross-functional leadership with R&D, manufacturing, sales, trade marketing, and brand marketing teams.
Experience in competitive market analysis and consumer insight translation into winning product propositions.
Amenable to working conditions such as - office, regular plant and market visits, supplier, field, out-of-town trips as required
