Project Engineer

Job Summary:

The Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, design coordination, estimation, and execution of cold storage construction and retrofit projects. The role involves ensuring that all engineering works—mechanical, electrical, civil, and refrigeration systems—are implemented according to specifications, safety standards, budget, and schedule. The Project Engineer must be technically proficient, detail-oriented, self-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Coordination

• Assist in the development of project scope, timelines, budgets, and technical specifications.

• Coordinate with consultants, suppliers, and contractors to ensure project deliverables meet design and performance requirements.

• Prepare detailed project schedules and monitor progress against milestones.

• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, local codes, and company standards).

2. Design & Technical Support

• Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software for cold storage facilities (refrigeration piping layouts, floor plans, electrical layouts, etc.).

• Validate design calculations for refrigeration load, structural, and MEP systems.

• Conduct field inspections to verify alignment of site execution with approved design.

3. Estimating & Cost Control

• Prepare detailed bill of materials (BOM), quantity take-offs, and cost estimates for refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, and civil components.

• Assist in tender evaluation, vendor comparison, and budget monitoring.

• Review contractor progress billing and variation orders.

4. Construction Supervision

• Supervise site activities to ensure safe, quality, and timely project completion.

• Coordinate with QA/QC, safety, and commissioning teams for smooth turnover.

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project reports for management review.

• Troubleshoot on-site technical issues and propose effective solutions.

5. Commissioning & Turnover

• Participate in testing and commissioning of refrigeration and auxiliary systems.

• Ensure documentation, as-built drawings, and manuals are properly submitted before project closeout.

• Support project handover to Operations and Maintenance teams.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related discipline. Professional license is required.

Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience in industrial or commercial project engineering, preferably in cold storage, food processing, or refrigeration systems.

• Experience in project cost estimation, design review, and construction management.

• Familiarity with refrigeration systems (Freon or Ammonia) is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office (Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint).

• Knowledgeable in estimating software or tools.

• Basic understanding of PLC-based control systems, instrumentation, and automation (an advantage).

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and civil coordination.

• Can handle pressure, tight schedules, and multiple priorities.

• Willing to travel or be assigned to project sites nationwide.

Other Requirements:

• Must know how to drive with a valid Non-Professional or Professional Driver's License.

• Physically fit to conduct site inspections and field supervision.
