Must to Have

Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing DR strategies for enterprise IT infrastructure.

Strong understanding of RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) principles.

Expertise in developing and maintaining Business Continuity and DR Plans (BCP/DRP) aligned with business requirements.

Proficiency in conducting DR risk assessments, business impact analyses (BIA), and failover testing.

Ability to manage multi-tier recovery scenarios across applications, databases, and infrastructure layers.

Oversight of replication and backup technologies

Lead DR drills and simulations to validate recovery processes and compliance readiness.

Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible).

Implementing automated DR provisioning workflows for cloud and on-prem environments.

Orchestrating failover and recovery automation using CI/CD pipelines or orchestration tools (e.g., Jenkins, vRealize Orchestrator, Azure DevOps).

Establishing standardized templates and scripts for consistent DR environment setup.

Familiarity with multi-cloud orchestration for hybrid DR architectures

Expertise in virtualized test environment design to validate DR scenarios without impacting production.

Experience with VMware vSphere, KVM, or Oracle VM for setting up virtual DR test beds.

Ability to manage replication, snapshots, and cloning of environments for testing and validation.

Developing automated DR test frameworks to simulate failover and rollback.

Collaborating with infrastructure, application, and QA teams for end-to-end recovery validation.

Strong understanding of security and compliance frameworks

Ensuring DR environments adhere to security policies — including data encryption, access control, and secure replication.

Managing privileged access and enforcing MFA and RBAC in recovery systems.

Overseeing secure backup management, ensuring encryption of data in transit and at rest.

Integration of DR systems and logs with SIEM tools

Leading audit readiness for DR compliance with internal and external regulatory standards.

Ability to lead cross-functional teams (infrastructure, applications, network, and security) during DR planning and execution.

Establishing governance models for DR testing, change control, and documentation.

Strong stakeholder communication, escalation management, and reporting during DR events.

Maintaining comprehensive documentation runbooks, failover procedures, and DR configurations.

Driving continuous improvement in recovery strategies and automation.

Experience with cloud-native DR solutions such as AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery, Azure Site Recovery (ASR), or OCI Disaster Recovery Service.

Knowledge of containerized and microservice recovery using Kubernetes or OpenShift.

Integration of DR automation with ITSM tools (ServiceNow)

Experience with on-demand DR test environments through Red Hat Satellite.

Understanding of storage-level replication and snapshot-based testing

Managing DR sandboxes for application or database upgrade testing.

Exposure to Infrastructure cloning and rollback frameworks for faster recovery validation.
