Job Overview

The BIM Job Captain develops and maintains BIM protocols and Execution Plans and other documentation while coordinating work information flows. A BIM Job Captain reports directly to the BIM Manager and one of the main responsibilities of a BIM Job Captain is to verify correctness and consistency of the BIM model.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of BIM Manager.
  • Supervise tasks and schedule of BIM Modelers.
  • Assist in creating models based on provided AEC drawings.
  • Perform multiple model reviews as needed to ensure compliance of models and documents to standards, BIM execution plans and BIM project workflow criteria.
  • Collaborate tasks with BIM Modelers for editing of models based on model review.
  • Formalize BIM clash and design issue reports.
  • Assist managers in creating and/or editing project templates for compliance with standards.
  • Create custom families with shared parameters based on project requirements.
  • Implement use of correct shared coordinates in all projects.
  • Monitor scheduled submissions, task delegations, and actual team progress.
  • Assist manager in maintaining document structuring.
  • Assist manager in documenting updates on project standards and instructions.
  • Assist manager in drafting project timeline for project team.
  • Assist manager in upskilling BIM Modelers and other BIM Job Captains.
  • Assist manager in developing BEPs.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Electrical Engineer; Licensed Architect or Civil/Structural Engineer with experience in the respective field.
  • At least 4 years work experience in BIM.
  • At least 5 years work experience in respective (design/on-site).
  • At least 2 years supervisory position in respective field.
  • Advanced skills in use of AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM software.
  • Knowledgeable in plan reading of Electrical drawings.
  • Basic knowledge in all other AEC disciplines.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
