A CSSD (Central Sterile Services Department) Technician is a healthcare professional responsible for the meticulous cleaning, disinfection, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment to ensure their safety and prevent infections. They work in hospitals and surgical centers, following strict infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff by using specialized equipment like autoclaves. Key Responsibilities

  • Decontamination and Cleaning: Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting medical instruments and equipment to remove contaminants.
  • Sterilization: Operating specialized equipment, such as autoclaves, to sterilize instruments and ensure they are free from microorganisms.
  • Assembly and Packaging: Assembling instrument trays, ensuring all items are present and properly packaged for sterilization.
  • Quality Control and Record-Keeping: Inspecting instruments for damage, monitoring sterilization cycles, and maintaining detailed records of processes to comply with healthcare standards.
  • Inventory and Distribution: Managing inventory, ensuring proper labeling, and distributing sterile tools to surgical teams.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with surgical staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to meet urgent needs and maintain smooth operation.

Job Type: Full-time
