  • Position Overview

Responsible for leading effective day-to-day support functions related to training across all WMTC's globally. Ensure the global annual training calendar is published in Compass and necessary courses are made available to ensure crew joins vessel with full compliance related to Wallem/owner specific training and briefing requirements.

Liaise with WMTC trainers and support staff, crewing colleagues, manning partners, and seafarers to ensure arrangements of training in compliance with company requirements. Responsible for ensuring timely financial and other reporting timelines are met in accordance with senior management requirements.

  • Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Ensure effective planning, development, review and implementation and delivery courses.

  • Act as the Deputy Chair of the global "Course and content review Committee" to identify learning and development needs and trends within the business.

  • Proactively identify and address training needs in a cost-effective and efficient manner to remain within the budget.

  • Evaluate training effectiveness and client satisfaction and rectify any shortcomings as soon as possible in accordance with the Quality Management System requirements.

  • Stay abreast of industry developments and proactively provide solutions to emerging industry challenges to ensure the company's competitive advantage.

  • Coordinate WMTC training activities of all Trainers (Consultants/Visiting Faculty) and Safety and Training Superintendents (whilst ashore at WMTC).

  • Report on any training course planning related issues to line manager.

  • Understand the impact of delayed readiness of seafarers on business performance.

  • Maintain good professional relationships with colleagues in all business functions, service providers and external stakeholders.

  • Any other function as directed by the Head of Training or General Manager, Training.

  • Qualifications

Class I (Deck/Engine) COC holder is a must

Degree holder in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Maritime is preferred

  • Experience

Minimum of 5 years' experience in Maritime Training or similar position

Seagoing experience as Master Mariner or Chief Engineer

Experience in seafarers training

Budget management experience

People management experience

  • Key Knowledge Areas

Extensive knowledge of seafarers training requirements

Depth of knowledge related to field of expertise (Master Mariner/Chief Engineer)

Good Knowledge of Course design, development and delivery

  • Skills & Competencies

Passionate about maritime training

Critical thinking, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

Good interpersonal skills especially, attentive to a multicultural environment

A strong communicator, both in written and spoken communication

Certificate of Competency (CoC) for Master or Chief Engineer

Training or Trainers & Assessors (TOTA)/Vertical Integration Course for Trainers (VICT) Certification

Organized, a self-starter and an inspirational leader of your team
