Job Description

We're looking for an Australian Senior Bookkeeper who will be working with our Australian Accounting firm that provides business services such as Accounting, Taxation, and Bookkeeping and Consulting.

What are the qualifications I need to get hired?

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Australian Bookkeeping handling/supporting AU clients

  • Expert in Xero bookkeeping and payroll processing

  • Graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent

  • Proven ability to support a team of Directors and managers

  • Proficient understanding of Single Touch Payroll and general payroll in Xero

  • Extensive experience with the preparation of BAS / IAS & PAYG reporting obligations

  • Prepared and submitted Taxable Payments Annual Reports

  • Knowledge of ATO compliance obligations

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach

  • Prior experience as a bookkeeper within a bookkeeping or accounting firm

  • Be highly organized with exceptional attention to detail

  • Must have full working ability with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Demonstrable people skills with excellent business acumen

  • Fluent in English as communication with Directors, managers and other staff is critical

  • Relevant formal qualifications are preferable but not essential

What will I do every day?

  • Utilizing Xero and XPM to process bookkeeping, payroll and interact with team

  • Monthly reconciliation and reporting of expenses

  • Check & control supplier, customer, balance sheet & income accounts correctly

  • Assisting with payroll processing

  • Preparation of employee payments

  • Other financial duties as dictated

  • Year-end reconciliation and General Journal entries with supporting documentation to the accountant

  • Bank reconciliations and account allocations from the bank feeds

  • Monthly preparation and lodgement of BAS/IAS

  • Quarterly preparation and lodgement of BAS

  • Reviewing assigned accounts and analyzing any variances in P&L, from month to month and quarter to quarter

  • Preparation and processing of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

  • Superannuation & Workcover lodgements
