**Role: Windows Server Administrator

Key Responsibilities:**

  • OS Upgrade Management:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute
    Windows Server OS upgrades
    /2012/2016/2019/2022) for client environments, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Conduct thorough testing of OS upgrades in development and staging environments before production rollout.
  • Develop and maintain upgrade strategies, timelines, and risk assessments to ensure smooth transition from legacy systems to newer versions.
  • Collaborate with application teams to validate compatibility of applications post-upgrade.
  • Server Administration & Maintenance:
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain Windows Server environments, both physical and virtual (VMware/Hyper-V), ensuring they are optimized for OS upgrades.
  • Monitor server performance and proactively identify areas for improvement, including applying necessary patches and updates after upgrades.
  • Manage Active Directory (AD), DNS, DHCP, and other critical services, ensuring they are seamlessly integrated post-upgrade.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery:
  • Ensure proper backup procedures are in place before initiating OS upgrades.
  • Implement disaster recovery plans and conduct regular testing to ensure data integrity during the upgrade process.
  • Security & Compliance:
  • Apply security best practices and compliance standards to systems post-upgrade to ensure they meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with security teams to implement necessary patches, security configurations, and compliance updates.
  • Performance Optimization:
  • Analyze system logs and performance metrics before and after OS upgrades to identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Implement performance tuning techniques to enhance server performance and optimize resource usage.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for OS upgrades, system configurations, and procedures.
  • Provide reports and updates to internal teams and clients regarding upgrade progress and any issues that arise.
  • Collaboration & Support:
  • Collaborate with other IT teams (network, storage, application) to ensure that OS upgrades are successfully integrated with other infrastructure components.
  • Provide advanced support and troubleshooting for escalated issues related to server upgrades and OS compatibility.
  • Automation & Scripting:
  • Utilize PowerShell and other automation tools to streamline the OS upgrade process and reduce manual intervention.
  • Contribute to the development of scripts and tools that improve the efficiency of OS deployment and upgrade processes.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of
    3-5 years
    of experience in managing Windows Server environments, with specific experience in OS upgrades and migrations.
