Job Overview:

We are seeking a Loan Officer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in evaluating loan applications, conducting thorough credit assessments, and guiding customers through the loan approval process. This position involves prospecting potential borrowers, gathering all necessary documentation, performing background and credit checks, assessing the applicants' financial standing, and recommending loans based on established policies and procedures. The Loan Officer will also be required to perform fieldwork, visiting clients and prospects in person as part of the loan application process. A motorcycle and willingness to travel are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Prospecting & Acquisition:

  • Identify and generate leads for potential loan applicants through various channels (outreach, networking, referrals, etc.).
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective customers.
  • Effectively communicate loan products and terms to potential borrowers

Fieldwork & Client Visits:

  • Conduct regular field visits to meet with clients, inspect properties (if applicable), and build relationships in person.
  • Utilize a motorcycle for efficient travel between client locations, ensuring prompt service and follow-up.
  • Engage with clients directly in their communities to understand their needs and offer tailored loan solutions.

Loan Application Assessment:

  • Collect and review loan applications from potential borrowers.
  • Assess applicants' creditworthiness by analyzing their credit reports, income statements, employment history, and other financial documents.
  • Conduct thorough background checks, ensuring all information provided is accurate and up-to-date.

Credit Risk Evaluation:

  • Evaluate applicants' financial stability, income sources, and liabilities to determine loan eligibility.
  • Identify any potential red flags in an applicant's financial history and advise on any areas of concern.

Client Interaction & Consultation:

  • Educate and advise applicants on the loan application process and documentation requirements.
  • Provide clear explanations of loan products, repayment terms, interest rates, and fees.
  • Guide clients through loan options, ensuring their understanding of financial products best suited to their needs.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all required documentation is collected, properly organized, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Process loan files and ensure that they are accurately prepared for underwriting approval.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws, policies, and procedures.

Loan Approval & Disbursement:

  • Review loan recommendations and submit completed applications to management or underwriting for approval.
  • Track the loan application process and ensure timely follow-up to maintain high customer satisfaction levels.
  • Facilitate the disbursement of approved loans and assist clients with understanding repayment schedules and terms.

Performance Metrics:

  • Meet monthly and quarterly targets related to loan origination, conversion rates, and customer satisfaction.
  • Continuously improve prospecting strategies to increase loan acquisition rates.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • At least college level

Experience:

  • Experience in assessing personal, auto, mortgage, or business loans is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment, loan products, and financial markets.
  • Ability to analyze financial documents, credit histories, and background information.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in using loan management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to perform fieldwork and travel regularly to meet with clients.
  • Must have access to a motorcycle for field visits and client engagement.
  • A valid driver's license and a reliable motorcycle in good working condition are required.
