Job Description

As a CAD Architectural and Structural Draftsperson, you will prepare high-quality drawings, plans, and documentation for residential and small commercial projects. You'll handle 2D and 3D drafting, ensure compliance with building codes, support project coordination, and refine designs based on engineering, client, and council requirements.

The Qualifications We Seek

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Structural/Civil Engineering, or equivalent qualification
• Strong background in structural engineering design with hands-on drafting experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience producing structural and architectural drawings for residential projects (new homes, additions, carports, and subdivisions)
• Proficiency in CAD software - Revit essential; VectorWorks desirable but not required
• Solid experience in 3D modelling for structural and architectural documentation
• In-depth knowledge of reinforced concrete design (slabs, footings, beams) and steel/timber framing systems
• Ability to produce council-ready documentation packages
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Understanding of the residential building approval and construction process desirable

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Australian Standards (AS 2870, AS 3600, AS 4100, AS 1684, etc.)
• Ability to interpret structural engineering calculations and convert them into construction drawings
• Experience coordinating with private certifiers

Your Daily Tasks

• Prepare detailed architectural and structural plans ready for builder quotes, council approvals, and construction
• Create architectural site plans, floor plans, elevations, building sections, perspectives, window schedules, and details
• Develop foundation plans and reinforcement schedules
• Produce framing and bracing layouts
• Generate construction and connection details
• Build and maintain 3D models for project use
• Ensure drawings comply with Australian building codes and engineering standards
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, builders, and certifiers
• Revise documentation based on mark-ups, feedback, and regulatory requirements
