JOB DESCRIPTION

The CAD Operator (2D & 3D) for Metal Fabrication is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and 3D models used in the design and fabrication of metal products and structures. The role requires a high level of precision in translating design concepts and engineering specifications into comprehensive CAD files for manufacturing use.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Prepare 2D shop drawings and 3D models for metal fabrication projects including cable trays, cable ladders, data cabinet, brackets, enclosures, and other custom metal works.

· Interpret and convert sketches, plans, and design specifications into technical drawings using AutoCAD and other relevant CAD software.

· Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and manufacturability.

· Revise and update CAD files based on feedback from engineering or production teams.

· Maintain organized records of all CAD files, drawings, and documentation.

· Assist in conducting quality control reviews of fabricated components against drawings.

· Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), dimensions, material specifications, and fabrication notes.

· Ensure that all drawings and outputs comply with safety, quality, and fabrication standards.

· Support site or production teams with drawing clarifications and revisions as necessary.

· Continuously improve CAD processes and support digital file management practices.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of Drafting Technology or related Technical/Vocational course.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 3D
  • Minimum 1 year of CAD drafting experience
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or other 3D modeling tools is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes such as laser cutting, bending, welding, and assembly is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and layout precision.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team under tight deadlines.
