Job Brief

We're seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal, Risk, and Compliance Officer to support business operations in a remote capacity. This role is critical to ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance, managing risk exposure, and coordinating legal documentation. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in compliance and risk management, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Responsibilities:

• Compliance

• Monitor and ensure adherence to relevant regulatory and legal frameworks (e.g., ASIC, APRA)

• On-boarding and KYC regimes as needed in Australia

• Maintain compliance registers and internal controls

• Assist with regulatory filings, renewals, and reporting requirements

• Conduct periodic compliance reviews and gap analyses

• Risk Management

• Support development and monitoring of the company's risk register

• Assist in identifying and mitigating operational, financial, legal, and reputational risks

• Coordinate incident reporting and follow-up investigations

• Support internal audits and control testing

• Legal Support

• Review and coordinate the execution of contracts, NDAs, SPAs, SHAs and commercial agreements

• Maintain and organise legal files and records

• Liaise with external legal counsel on routine matters

• Assist with legal due diligence processes for corporate transactions

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Law. Also Business, Compliance, Risk Management experience

• 2+ years' experience in compliance, legal support, or risk management (preferably in the Australian regulatory context)

• Familiarity with ASIC/ATO regulatory frameworks and corporate governance standards

• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills

• Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex regulatory matters clearly

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems

• Comfortable working independently and remotely

Desirable:

• Previous experience supporting a financial services, fintech, or regulated professional services business.

• Exposure to incident management systems or enterprise risk frameworks.

• Experience collaborating with external legal counsel and regulators.

Software Proficiency:

• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

• Document management systems (e.g., SharePoint, Dropbox, or equivalent)

• Risk & compliance tools (e.g., ComplyAdvantage, Encompass, or similar)

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Risk Management, or related discipline.
