Experience with photovoltaic (PV) system design, construction, analysis, and modeling using software like PVsyst, PVcase, ArcGIS, AutoCad and PSS/E. Responsibilities include developing PV system layouts, performing system studies, and validate and interpret PVsyst models to ensure accurate performance prediction. Additionally, knowledge of industry codes and standards, as well as the ability to create and maintain project-specific data, is often essential.

Key Skills and Responsibilities:

Software Proficiency:

Expertise in PVsyst, PVcase, and PSS/E (or similar power system modeling software) is crucial for conducting system studies and analysis.

PV System Design:

Ability to design PV systems, including plant layouts, cable routing, and in-ground wiring.

Model Validation:

Experience validating PVsyst models and reports to ensure they accurately reflect the expected performance of the solar PV project.

Project Specific Data:

Creating and maintaining project-specific data within PVsyst and other relevant tools, such as module/inverter/tracker assessments.

Mapping:

  • Conduct site assessments to evaluate the suitability of locations for solar and wind farms.
  • Analyze environmental, geographical, and topographical conditions for project feasibility.
  • Assess potential project sites for electrical infrastructure requirements.
  • Use GIS software to create maps and models to support site evaluation.
  • Maintain and update GIS databases with accurate site information.
  • Support project development group with reports and documentation related to site assessments.

Knowledge of Standards:

Familiarity with industry codes and standards, IEC, IEEE, PEC, PH Grid Codes including NEC (National Electrical Code) and NESC (National Electrical Safety Code),.

Drawing Interpretation:

Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and studies related to plant layouts and energy systems.

Problem Solving:

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PV system design and performance.

Communication:

Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics/Communication Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-7 years of experience in electrical transmission/distribution, generation, or construction, with experience in utility-scale solar PV systems is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of GIS mapping and software tools
  • Strong knowledge in renewable energy project development, local regulations and policies is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess project site conditions and requirements. Knowledge of electrical infrastructure for renewable energy projects.
