Quantity surveyors (or cost consultants) manage a building project's budget. They estimate costs and materials, prepare budgets, and monitor any design changes that affect expenses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and material quantity take-offs.
  • Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documents for accurate costing.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts, purchase orders, and supplier agreements.
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor project expenses to prevent cost overruns.
  • Prepare progress reports and ensure timely billing and payments.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, and company standards.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of Civil Engineering (licensed or not), or any related course.
  • At least 1 year of experience in quantity surveying, cost estimation, or construction projects
  • Knowledgeable in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and cost-estimating tools
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
