Safety Officer – Battery Storage Construction Project

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
  • Must be a DOLE-accredited Safety Officer (SO2, SO3, or SO4) in compliance with DO

Certifications and Training:

  • BOSH (Basic Occupational Safety and Health) or COSH (Construction Occupational Safety and Health) certification – mandatory.
  • First Aid / Basic Life Support certification from a DOLE- or DOH-accredited organization.
  • Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness training – preferred.
  • Additional training in Electrical Safety, Hazardous Materials Handling, or Energy Storage Systems is an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Safety Officer in construction projects, preferably with exposure to energy, electrical, or battery storage systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessments, safety audits, incident investigation, and compliance monitoring.
  • Experience working with contractors and subcontractors to enforce safety standards on-site.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth understanding of:

  • Philippine OSH Standards (DOLE DO

  • Electrical and Fire Safety Regulations relevant to battery or energy storage facilities
  • Environmental compliance (waste management, chemical handling, and spill response)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills for coordinating with engineers, supervisors, and workers.
  • Ability to identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and incident reporting systems.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the Project Safety and Health Program (SHP).
  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings and ensure compliance with safety policies on-site.
  • Perform routine inspections of construction areas, electrical installations, and hazardous zones.
  • Oversee proper PPE usage and permit-to-work systems.
  • Investigate and document accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective and preventive measures are in place.
  • Coordinate with DOLE, LGUs, and other regulatory agencies for safety compliance and reporting.
  • Promote a safety-first culture across all site operations and subcontractors.

Other Requirements:

  • Willing to be assigned on-site for the duration of the construction project.
  • Physically fit to perform inspections and emergency response duties.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining zero-accident goals.
