Revenue Cycle Team Lead
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor daily team performance to ensure productivity and accuracy in billing operations.
- Provide daily guidance, coaching, and support to team members based on performance reviews.
- Prepare, review, and transmit clinical charges, including updating procedure and diagnosis codes in computer systems.
- Maintain and balance daily input and accounts receivable system.
- Verify eligibility and benefits for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.
- Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness, obtaining any missing information as needed.
- Check insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with contract discounts.
- Contact insurance companies regarding payment discrepancies when necessary.
- Research and appeal denied claims promptly.
- Answer patient and insurance inquiries related to assigned accounts.
- Collect delinquent accounts by establishing payment arrangements and following up on lapses.
- Communicate special billing rules to the appropriate individuals.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain and update contract and credentialing information with insurance payers for providers and clinics.
Required Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in medical practice billing.
- At least 2 years of experience in a Team Lead role.
- Prior experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity or certification in CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- EHR experience required; experience with eCW, athenahealth, or NexGen preferred.
A Successful Candidate Must Have
- Strong problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, and collections.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills when dealing with patients, providers, and insurers.
Proficient With
- Computer systems, billing software, and 10-key calculators.
- Organizing, analyzing, and reporting accurate and complete billing data.
Experience Advantage
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to cross-train in different billing functions.
