Job Summary
The Cost Accountant is primarily responsible for establishing, monitoring, and analyzing the costs associated with the company's catering services and product offerings. This position ensures that the company's costing structure remains accurate, efficient, and competitive within the market while safeguarding profitability and aligning with the organization's financial objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Cost Management and Analysis
- Review and maintain accurate cost sheets for menu items, catering packages, and services.
- Conduct regular analysis of food, labor, and overhead costs, ensuring proper allocation and cost efficiency.
- Perform variance analysis between actual and standard costs, identifying areas for improvement.
- Evaluate inventory usage, waste, and consumption patterns to support cost control measures.
Pricing and Market Benchmarking
- Provide recommendations to management regarding pricing strategies and cost optimization.
- Collaborate with Sales and culinary teams in developing cost-effective catering packages and promotional offerings.
Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare periodic cost reports and profitability analysis for management review.
- Ensure compliance with established accounting standards, policies, and internal controls.
- Support both internal and external audit requirements by providing accurate cost-related records and documentation.
Collaboration and Support
- Partner with the Culinary team to verify recipe costing and monitor standard portion control.
- Provide financial insights to Management for decision-making related to new products, events, and business opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within the food and beverage, catering, or hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling, data analysis).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to management.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
