
Payroll Officer

- Lead end-to-end payroll processing for all employee types (salaried and timesheet-based), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance.
- Manage statutory obligations such as PAYG, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions to the ATO.
- Ensure adherence to employment regulations, including Fair Work, NES, modern awards, and contractual terms.
- Own payroll accounting deliverables including journal entries, month-end accruals, and financial performance reporting.
- Oversee third-party labour compliance, timesheet management, invoice verification, and vendor reporting accuracy.
- Provide gross margin insights by contributing to data transformation, workforce cost tracking, and cost centre allocations.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in end-to-end payroll processing, ideally in a high-growth or complex labour environment.
- Experience managing payroll compliance and labour cost analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and Fair Work regulations.
- Familiarity with Single Touch Payroll and statutory compliance requirements.
A Successful Candidate Must Have
- Strong attention to detail with analytical and reconciliation skills.
- A proactive mindset and strong sense of ownership, accountability, and process integrity.
Proficient With
- Cloud-based payroll systems (e.g., Rippling, Deputy, Xero, or similar).
- Excel and reconciliation/reporting tools.
Experience Advantage
- Experience working in a start-up or fast-paced environment.
- Exposure to payroll audits and Employee Share Scheme (ESS) administration.
