Head Mechanic – (AVL & Generators)

The Head Mechanic oversees all mechanical and technical maintenance related to the company's AVL (Audio, Video, Lighting) equipment, generators, vehicles, and event-related machinery. This role ensures all equipment is fully operational, safe, and deployment-ready for events and warehouse operations. With extensive technical experience, the Head Mechanic leads the workshop team, handles complex diagnostics, and coordinates closely with Operations and Production for event requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise mechanics and technicians handling AVL equipment, generators, vehicles, and warehouse machinery.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel generators, power distribution systems, engine components, and event-related mechanical equipment.
  • Oversee maintenance and inspection of AVL support systems including trusses, lifts, mounting hardware, power cables, and rigging-related mechanical components.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules for generators, trucks, lifts, warehouse equipment, and mechanical components supporting AVL setups.
  • Inspect, test, and approve the release of generators and equipment before deployment to events.
  • Coordinate closely with Operations, Production, and Warehouse teams for equipment pull-outs, loading schedules, and repair priorities.
  • Maintain accurate repair logs, generator usage records, service histories, and maintenance reports.
  • Manage inventory of tools, spare parts, consumables, cables, and mechanical components; initiate requisition when needed.
  • Ensure workshop and generator storage areas follow proper safety protocols and are organized and clean.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring for junior mechanics and technical crew.
  • Conduct field support for events, including emergency repairs and generator troubleshooting on-site.
  • Recommend upgrades, replacements, or improvements for generators, lifting equipment, and AVL mechanical support systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, load requirements, and company mechanical protocols.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in mechanical repair and maintenance (vehicles, generators, or heavy equipment).
  • Experience in events, AVL, generator operations, or technical production support is highly preferred.
  • Strong background in diesel engine diagnostics, generator servicing, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Technical/vocational certification in Mechanical, Automotive, or related field.
  • Ability to lead a team, manage workflow, and handle urgent field repairs during events.
  • Knowledge of safety practices related to generators, load distribution, and equipment handling.
