Curve Cafe Barista

JOB SUMMARY

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of beverages and food items while delivering excellent customer service. This role involves maintaining high standards of product quality, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is passionate about coffee, enjoys interacting with customers, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Barista ensures that every guest receives prompt, friendly, and personalized service while maintaining the operational standards of the café.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service

  • Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and provide friendly, attentive service.

  • Engage customers in a positive manner, answer questions about menu items, and make recommendations.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by promptly addressing any concerns or complaints. Beverage & Food Preparation

  • Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, blended beverages, and other café menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.

  • Ensure the consistent quality of all beverages and food items served.

  • Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices. Cafe Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, preparation areas, and dining areas.

  • Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth operation throughout the shift.
    • Assist in inventory management and communicate low stock levels to supervisors.

Cash Handling

  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently and accurately.

  • Process cash, credit card, and other transactions while ensuring accuracy and accountability.

  • Handle daily cash balancing and end-of-shift reconciliation.

Team Support

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth café operations.

  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, restocking, and equipment maintenance.

  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain product knowledge and customer service skills.

Event Participation

  • Support the Events Lead and Marketing Team by participating in off-site events, pop-ups, catering services, and promotional activities outside Curve Café.

  • Assist in setting up, serving, and engaging with customers during events to promote the brand and enhance customer experience.
    • Represent Curve Café professionally in external functions, maintaining excellent service and product quality.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

  • Previous experience as a barista, in food service, or customer service (preferred).

  • Basic knowledge of coffee preparation and beverage service is an advantage.

  • Passion for coffee, food, and customer interaction.

SKILLS

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong communication abilities.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Basic math skills for handling cash and operating the POS system.

  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and safety protocols.
