Overview:

The Cloud Operations Engineer (L2) is responsible for maintaining the stability, performance, and security of the organization's cloud infrastructure and managed services. This role handles advanced operational support, proactive monitoring, and complex troubleshooting across compute, network, storage, and application layers. The L2 engineer serves as the escalation point for L1 issues, ensuring service continuity and driving root cause analysis and remediation for critical incidents.

Key Responsibilities:Proactive Operations

  • Perform 16x7 cloud infrastructure monitoring and alert management across compute, storage, and network resources.
  • Manage and optimize operating systems (Windows and Linux) and databases (SQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Conduct critical infrastructure patching, endpoint event monitoring, and backup verification (daily/weekly/monthly).
  • Review cost and resource utilization reports to identify optimization and right-sizing opportunities.
  • Monitor and strengthen cloud security controls, including vulnerability scanning and incident detection.

Reactive Support

  • Handle escalated incidents and perform root cause analysis for high-priority (P1/P2) cases.
  • Manage Identity and Access Management (IAM), antivirus/antimalware systems, and backup/BCDR operations, including disaster recovery drills.
  • Execute and document configuration changes and infrastructure incident management activities.
  • Support managed database and network services (Firewall, WAF, IDS/IPS).
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams for CI/CD pipeline management and deployment troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical solution design and performance tuning guidance to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Offer customer success advisory, assisting clients in maintaining secure and optimized environments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure operations, system administration, or technical support.
  • Strong background in Windows/Linux administration, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and virtualization technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Zabbix, Prometheus)
  • Database management (SQL/MySQL/MongoDB)
  • Networking & security (firewall, IDS/IPS, VPN, IAM)
  • Backup and DR solutions
  • Knowledge of DevOps pipelines (CI/CD), automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), and ITIL framework preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Willing to work on a rotational shift schedule (16x7 operations) and report onsite 3x per week as needed.
