Position Summary

The Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security solutions to protect digital assets and infrastructure. The role involves proactive threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, and continuous enhancement of security controls. This position works collaboratively with IT, cybersecurity governance, and business teams to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data.


Key Responsibilities

Security Controls Implementation

  • Design and deploy security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint protection, and SIEM platforms.
  • Integrate security into cloud and on-premises infrastructure and applications.

Vulnerability Management & Assessments

  • Conduct regular security assessments, scans, and audits to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Coordinate and implement remediation plans with internal teams.

Threat Detection & Incident Response

  • Monitor systems, networks, and security logs for indicators of compromise.
  • Investigate, respond to, and remediate security incidents.
  • Perform root cause analysis and support forensic investigations.
  • Provide out-of-hours support when required for critical incidents.

Security Automation

  • Develop scripts and automation to enhance security operations and incident response efficiency.

Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure technical controls comply with regulatory and security frameworks.
  • Provide documentation and evidence for internal and external audits.

Security Reporting

  • Contribute to reporting on security metrics, risk posture, compliance, and incident handling activities.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering, security operations, or infrastructure security.

  • Proficiency with security technologies such as:

  • Firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection, cloud security tools.

  • Experience with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Strong scripting/automation skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

Preferred Certifications (not mandatory but advantageous)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert
  • GIAC Security Engineer (GSE) or other GIAC certifications

  • Solid documentation and reporting abilities.

Technical Skills

  • Experience implementing and managing:

  • Firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management platforms, SIEM, EDR/XDR tools, and cloud security posture tools.

  • Deep understanding of network security principles and protocols.
  • Cloud security engineering experience (preferably Azure).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools (e.g., SCA, SAST, DAST).
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001.
  • Experience using ticketing and workflow systems (e.g., JIRA).
