About the Role

You'll own development and support activities across IBM AS/400 applications. Expect hands-on coding, production stability work, improvements, and modernization projects—while working closely with business and tech teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and support applications on IBM AS/400 (iSeries).
  • Work with RPG (III/IV/ILE), CL, SQL, and DB2.
  • Manage administration tasks such as tuning, security, provisioning, backups, and job scheduling.
  • Build or troubleshoot batch jobs, stored procedures, file structures, and triggers.
  • Investigate production issues and deploy fixes safely.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business logic.
  • Support enhancements, migration efforts, testing cycles, and modernization.
  • Maintain documentation on system flows, code and changes.
  • Uphold compliance with internal controls and IT audit practices.
Must-Have Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years' hands-on experience in IBM AS/400 / iSeries.
  • Strong programming in RPG (RPGLE preferred), CL, SQL/DB2.
  • Proven experience in debugging, system troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Solid understanding of file systems, batch & interactive processing, subfiles, and DB structures.
  • Background in production support environments with SLAs.
  • Ability to analyze legacy code and optimize or rewrite it.
Good-to-Have
  • Experience in system modernization and API integrations.
  • Awareness of cloud migration for iSeries workloads.
  • Familiarity with queues, job schedulers, and automation tools.
  • Domain exposure: banking, manufacturing, retail, healthcare.
  • Knowledge of Git or source code management tools.
