The Automotive Workshop Job Controller is responsible for overseeing the daily operations within the workshop, including managing service orders, coordinating with technicians, and ensuring efficient workflow. The role is crucial in maintaining high standards of service quality, optimizing workshop productivity to ensure delivery of exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and process all incoming service orders, ensuring accurate information and proper documentation.
  • Prioritize and assign service jobs to technicians based on their skill sets, availability, and the urgency of the work.
  • Monitor and track the progress of each job, ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Communicate job requirements and priorities to workshop technicians.
  • Facilitate the efficient flow of work within the workshop, adjusting assignments as needed to address workflow issues or delays.
  • Ensure technicians have the necessary parts, tools, and resources to complete their tasks.
  • Coordinate with the parts department to ensure timely availability of required parts for service jobs and monitor inventory to prevent shortages.
  • Analyze workshop operations to identify and implement improvements in efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop and enforce processes and procedures to streamline workflow and enhance service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of service orders, job status, technician performance, and customer interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of completed work to ensure it meets dealership standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure all workshop activities adhere to safety regulations and dealership policies.
  • Maintains an accurate record of repairs done, ensuring that changes from the requested job or repair are immediately logged
  • Prepares/generates reports on workshop performance such as technician productivity and job completion times

Qualifications:

  • College or Vocational Course graduate, preferably with Automotive training or certification
  • With at least 1 to 2 years of experience in an automotive industry specifically in workshop/service
  • With Supervisory background
  • Must have a good planning and leadership skills
  • Highly adaptable to diverse and constantly changing situations
  • Proficiency in the use of basic Microsoft Office
