Job Responsibilities:

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES

• 1. Global Clinical Care & Assessment

• Be the First Medical Contact: Receive and evaluate urgent medical calls from patients and clients, including those on commercial ships and offshore platforms.

• Rapid Assessment: Quickly gather all medical history, logistics details, and related information to understand the situation and make critical decisions.
• Tele-Consultation Expert: Provide direct medical assessments and consultations via phone or telemedicine to patients and medical teams globally.
• Manage Treatment: Medically assess risk, advise on, and continuously monitor the appropriateness of all patient treatments.
• Direct Care: Organize and supervise appropriate medical assistance, including getting medical reports, arranging specialist referrals, and monitoring patient progress.
• On-Site Support: Conduct hospital visits and provide direct medical assistance to patients/clients when required.
• Safe Medication Use: Optimize the use of first aid and non-prescription drugs safely when advanced medical intervention is not needed.

## 2. Medical Transportation Logistics

• Evacuation Expert: Take the medical lead on complex evacuations and repatriations, discussing medical and logistical risks with the Medical Director.
• Coordinate the Move: Recommend the correct method of transport (air/ground), necessary medical equipment, and required clinical skill set for the journey.
• Flight Clearance: Liaise with airline medical departments to obtain medical clearance for passengers.
• Maintain Standards: Ensure all arrangements meet International SOS Medical Transportation Standards (MTS).

## 3. Documentation & Communication

• Professional Reporting: Produce clear, professional medical reports for billing, clients, and other centers when a case closes or monthly.
• Update Stakeholders: Communicate verbally and/or in writing with patients, families, clients, and internal teams to provide updates, discuss management plans, and promote clear understanding.
• Represent the Company: Maintain a professional, courteous manner in all communications as a representative of International SOS.
• Accurate Records: Maintain the highest standards of detailed and accurate documentation by consistently and contemporaneously updating case files.

## 4. Compliance & Occupational Health

• Workplace Safety Focus: Manage cases with an understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) concepts, including recording lost time injuries, restricted work, and classifying cases correctly.
• Industry Standards: Ensure all reporting aligns with major industry guidelines (OSHA, IADC).
• Maritime Protocol: Understand the role of Maritime Rescue Coordination Centers (MRCC) and provide them with necessary medical information during maritime cases.
• Referral Management: Ensure patients are referred to the most appropriate level of care and provide supporting medical referral letters.

## 5. Team & Company Support

• Seamless Handoff: Provide thorough handovers to the next shift's doctors to ensure zero gaps in case continuity.
• Escalate Wisely: Follow protocols to escalate complex cases to senior doctors (Medical Case Leads, Medical Directors) when necessary.
• Flexible Hours: Be prepared to work flexible hours, including weekends and night shifts.
• Professional Growth: Take responsibility for your Continuing Professional Education (CPD) and attend required training sessions and meetings.
• Promote Services: Help explain International SOS's medical services to existing and prospective clients and providers.

Required Qualifications

• Full current registration to practice medicine/nursing in the Philippines.
• 5 years plus post-graduation clinical medical experience
• Current BLS/ACLS certifications
• Emergency or ICU Medical background is required
• Family and Internal Medicine considered.
• Occupational Medicine experience (desirable).
• Maritime/Aviation/Remote/Assistance Medicine experience (desirable)

Travel Requirements

• To be determined in consensus with the Medical Director for training/client/educational purposes.
• To be available in the Manila Assistance Centre for training and shifts.
