Role Purpose
This role is perfect for a capable Bookkeeper ready to take ownership of day-to-day tasks and support senior staff in delivering exceptional service. You'll be responsible for transaction processing, reconciliations, payroll assistance, and supporting compliance across a growing client base.
This is a support role—not a leadership role—and you'll work closely with Senior Bookkeepers and the Bookkeeping Manager to meet all client deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Reconciliations
● Record and reconcile transactions in Xero (AP, AR, bank, credit cards)
● Process journals including accruals, depreciation, and adjustments
● Maintain accuracy in chart of accounts and coding
Payroll Support
● Collate and check timesheets and leave data
● Support payroll processing and STP lodgement
● Send pay slips and basic payroll reports to clients
Compliance & BAS Assistance
● Assist in preparing data for monthly/quarterly BAS and IAS
● Reconcile superannuation, PAYG, and wages payable accounts
● Save documentation to OneDrive as part of monthly close
Client Communication
● Manage inboxes and triage basic client queries
● Escalate complex matters to Senior Bookkeepers
● Respond to client emails within 24 hours
Workflow & Admin
● Update time tracking and workflow daily (e.g. Financial Cents)
● Maintain Xero rules and supplier details
● Follow file naming protocols and SOPs
Skills & Experience
● 2+ years in Australian bookkeeping or accounting support roles
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
● Experience using Xero and Microsoft Excel
● Good written English and confident communication skills
● High attention to detail and time management
