Job Title: Safety Officer III

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

The Safety Officer III is responsible for overseeing and implementing the company's safety policies, procedures, and programs at construction sites to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role involves supervising junior safety officers, conducting risk assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture across all levels of the project team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Management & Compliance
  • Implement and enforce occupational health and safety standards in accordance with local regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOLE, ISO 45001, etc.).
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety patrols to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Maintain compliance with all company and client safety requirements and ensure documentation is up to date.
  • Incident Prevention & Investigation
  • Lead investigations of accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts/conditions; prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective measures.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of incident prevention measures and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
  • Training & Supervision
  • Supervise and mentor Safety Officer I and II personnel; provide guidance and performance feedback.
  • Conduct safety orientation and toolbox meetings for new employees, subcontractors, and site visitors.
  • Facilitate periodic safety training and emergency response drills.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain safety logs, inspection reports, risk assessments, and permits-to-work documentation.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly HSE performance reports to management.
  • Emergency Preparedness
  • Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
  • Ensure emergency equipment is available, functional, and regularly inspected.
  • Coordination
  • Coordinate with site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to integrate safety practices into all phases of construction activities.
  • Liaise with government safety inspectors and clients on compliance matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–7 years of safety experience in the construction industry, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory safety role.
  • Must hold relevant safety certifications (e.g., Scaffold Inspection Training BOSH, COSHP, NEBOSH, OSHA 30-hour, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety standards, risk assessment procedures, and environmental health regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to dynamic construction site conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily field-based at active construction sites with exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and site hazards.
  • May require occasional night shifts, weekend work, or travel between project locations.
